Shouldn't there be stop bead like in stucco installations around windows with stone veneer siding?

Shouldn't manufactuered stone veneer installations basically follow all the stucco guidelines?

Yeah,

A gap filled with backer rod and then a layer of caulk on top of that. Around here, they'll sometimes coat the caulk with the same stuff used to top-coat EIFS in order to make it look like mortar.

Chris, there should but you will rarely find in in installations older than 1 year. Print out the Owens Corning guide (or better yet keep it on your computer) and give copies to all concerned. At this point there are 2 choices - leave it and consider the window nailing flange as a drip edge (bad idea) or open the joint so as to install caulking. I tell them to do this regularly. Oregon is famous for maverick installers that don't keep up with requirements. If the installation was after the date on the installation guidelines then tell them to fix it as per supplied paperwork.

Well, crap. It looks like different mfg's have different requirements. Owens corning doesn't require a stop bead like I have seen with some other mfg's.

Does that mean I have to figure out the mfg of the lick & stick before I open my mouth?

With the OC I have no idea if they have done anything right allowing the installer to mortar right up to the window. Even if it weeps I would imagine that you're going to get some amount of effluorescence at the bottom of windows.

I don't understand what is the real difference between the two windows?

1.7A says something about an integral return key and doesn't resemble the window in my initial post.

And your right, I didn't look at 1.7B which does have a stop bead and resembles the pic in my post.

So you need the stop bead unless you have some special model of the window designed for use with stucco etc. ?
