John Dirks Jr Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I called out some loose carpet in a stairway last week. The carpet was cut in individual pieces, one for each rise/run. It was held down with tack strips only and was popping loose in several places. I was just wondering, shouldn't the carpet for the stairs be one continuous piece?
carle3 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 No, carpet layers will typically cut a piece to cover just a few treads at a time. It would be to difficult to work with a 12 foot runner.

Its usually not done in one piece, but it ends up looking that way.
carle3 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 That was the meaning I meant to convey in my post [:-boggled
