Egress Window

IRC 2006 / I can't find the section relating to bsmt. egress window requirements. Any help?

Well= 9sqft or greater, casement must open past 90 degrees. 5.7 sq ft net opening, ladder can have rungs as far as 18 inches apart and may intrude into the well 6 inches

As a single man for 35yrs, I really appreciated a nice motion activated light and a driveway alarm. Window wells always worried me because they are often full of snow and that was problematic if you are not fully dressed.
