hausdok Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 In this piece in The Chicago Daily Herald, a reader boasts to Barry Stone about how he shopped around, saved $200 on his home inspection, and then asks why there is such a large difference in fees from one inspector to another. I bet the reader wasn't feeling so smug after reading Barry's answer.
Erby Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 When you're buying a Snickers Candy Bar, it doesn't matter where you buy it or how much you pay, you still get the same Snickers Candy Bar When you're buying a professional opinion, (fill in the blank).
Eric B Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I don't know how much of a problem it is in other areas but in the Chicago area people shop on price. Can you blame them? After all, virtually all advertising that they see is based on the lowest price. It's been embedded into people's thinking. They can't relate to paying more.
kurt Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I do like Barry Stone. There are people that understand. They usually are not first time buyers, or they've been burned on a previous home inspection.
ozofprev Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 It's too bad that people need to have that explained. They should be able to figure it out for themselves.
SonOfSwamp Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Cheap HIs, the people who hire them and the RE agents who recommend them all deserve each other. It's the dumb leading the dumber. There ought to be a homebuyer's license... WJ
