hausdok Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 In this oped piece, a Missouri home inspector sends a broadside across the bow of the Missouri Association of Realtors. To read the entire piece, click here.
Chad Fabry Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 I'm not a big fan of Jim's, but he's dead target on in the article. Even though he an I are like oil and water and he never posts anything here, I know he reads occasionally...nice job Jim.
Erby Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 How the hell did he manage to get THAT in a newspaper that accepts realtor advertising. None of the newspapers around here accept stuff like that, much to our detriment, because they don't want to piss off the realtors. I'm glad he got it published. I hope it has some effect on the issue.
kurt Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Yeah! There's going to be more & more recognition of this sort of thing as the housing mess continues. How is it that a sales person would lead their "customer" into some of these deals? I'm w/Erby; I'm amazed he could get that printed in a local newspaper.
Scottpat Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 FYI, the Joplin Independent looks like it is an online news service, more like a Blog. From what I can tell they do not produce a printed paper. It looks like the Realtors have little if any say so on what goes on. They say they are a non-commercial media source. From their site Do not ask us for price quotes on advertising. We are a non-commercial media source. If you wish to post a classified ad, that currently also is free, please be sure to include your full name, address, and phone number for our records. We will not publish your ad without that information. Of course, we reserve the right to edit or not run anything we deem inappropriate. Jim is not on our Christmas card list but he is putting up a good battle, or so it would appear. I just wonder if this is having much of an impact across the rest of the state. With so many views on HI licensing in MO, shots like this can polarize those who have may not have had thought about the subject. Only time will tell.
