hausdok Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Maybe some of you have heard about pre-cast concrete foundation systems but you didn't really understand what they were. Here's a 3-1/2 minute video that will help you understand what's involved with their manufacture and installation. Click here
Scottpat Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Thanks Mike, this is becoming the norm in my area for just about all homes over the $500,000 mark.
hausdok Posted November 26, 2007 Author Report Posted November 26, 2007 Hi Scott, My Dad was the first to use them in his area. He put them in for more than a decade and never had a problem with them. OT - OF!!! M.
Les Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 They are a good idea, in the hands of a skilled person. I have inspected many, and worked two files for clients that had some problems. One file the product was sloppy, out of square and a dingbat builder and the other file was a problem with placement on the footings and the product was good. I have an open file that involves ICF and pre-cast combination and the brickledge specs and transition. Overall I like them, but the inspector must maintain a different mind-set and remember it is not a monolithic component.
