This is a You Tube video of a news team investigation of the tragic death of a little boy who'd died when he touched a metal garage door and was electrocuted. Investigation determined that the garage, which was a recent addition, had been improperly wired.

Hi Barry,

Wow, very sobering. It kind of makes one realize how important it is to have a complete understanding of all of the little details that we look at when we examine the wiring in a home.

Tragic. The death of a young child, the court battles and TV coverage, and everyone trying to excuse themselves for their part in it all...the parents have been through hell, to be sure.

This is an excellent reminder for all of those times when people question why we have to be sticklers for the rules, and why the rules are like they are to start with. Once in a while a few half-measures and short cuts get someone hurt or killed.

After watching the 3-D explanation, I have a question.

Would a 3-light tester really have caught the "ungrounded" receptacles?

BTW, when I viewed the video, there wasn't any sound -- maybe its my computer.
