John Dirks Jr Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 As for magnets on torpedo levels and other tools, what are the precautions as far as keeping them away from other more "delicate" equipment like clamp meters or IR thermometers? What kinds of things can be damaged by magnets?
chicago Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Really should not be much of a problem as far as my experiance.
Mark P Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Other then my compass and computer hard drive, I can't think of anything.
n/a30 Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 You can always wrap the magnets in a sheilding material such as aluminum foil. The strength of the magnet might determine how much sheilding is required. Try it out.
Bill Kibbel Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 It'd screw up my Patek Philippe watch that I wear just for crawlspaces. It'll also wipe out the programming on the new pacemakers. I have 2 tools that have magnets in my box. Hasn't been a problem.

What kinds of things can be damaged by magnets? Cassette tapes. I don't think you have any worries with the magnets. Just carry on. WJid="blue">
