CheckItOut Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Do you know if there is a requirement for newer houses to have a separate water supply cut off valve, or line for that matter, for the dishwasher? Older houses just have the supply hooked up at the sink supply line but some new homes have a separate valve. If a requirement, do you know when this was?

Each plumbing fixture is supposed to have a shut-off valve. It's not a new requirement. - Jim Katen, Oregon
Darren Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Here's my macro: There is no separate water shut-off valve for the dishwasher. This means if problems or leakage occurs, hot water has to be shut-off to the dishwasher & the kitchen sink. I recommend installing a separate shut-off valve to isolate the dishwasher. chicago Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 It is not uncommon to see them on a double shutoff with compression fittings .But Ditto with the above. I guess losing hot water to the sink would be a good reminder to fix the dishwasher though.
