fqp25 Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 What is the name of these braces attached to the rafters. They are connected to the ceiling joist, but not to uniformly. The are also missing toward the center rafters. I think to make room for a new heating plenum, and coincidentally the center rafters are sagging. Image Insert: 140.44 KB

fqp25 Posted October 2, 2007 Author Report Posted October 2, 2007 Braces. Thats it? Nothing more? Should've listened to my gut instinct. For some reason I was thinking of another name. Thanks for helping me with this brain cramp...
Richard Moore Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 Originally posted by fqp25 Braces. Thats it? Nothing more? You could go with "Heterogeneous, hygroscopic, cellular, anisotropic, cellulose fiber based braces".* "Wood braces" would work too! ---- *Wikpedia can be addictive!
Chad Fabry Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Purlins are perpendicular to the rafters and directly supporting of the rafters. Picture a beam that splits the rafter span...that's a purlin.
