ozofprev Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 If the Vista and XP thread piqued your interest in Linux, here is a good article for you. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2177657,00.asp As Brian and I agree, competition is a necessity for fair markets. I keep both on my PC. With the low cost of hard drives, it's simple to have one for each OS. Decide for yourself.
Brian G Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 That should be very useful to me, thanks Gary. I just bought hard copies of Ubuntu and Freespire on eBay for a few bucks (combined), just to check 'em out. As I understand it these OS's can be booted from a cd, but I'm also seriously considering a second hard drive because of the shrinking available space on the existing one. I may go dual to get accustomed to Linux. Brian G. Radical, Dude [:-mohawk]

It's not like I'm the only one. I can post photos at IN with no problem. Brian G.
n/a30 Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 I have an internet server set up for Linux. It is far more affordable than anything from Microsoft. It however is not without a considerable learning curve. There is also not an adequate number of good application programs.
ozofprev Posted September 24, 2007 Author Report Posted September 24, 2007 Russia is considering installing Linux on the computers of every Russian school - they will call it RussianOS. They do not like relying on a US corporation - MS - for technology. Seriously - http://eng.cnews.ru/news/top/indexEn.shtml?2007/09/14/266177
