Phillip
Let some of the newer folks take a guess what the red switch is for. The house is a 1996 double wide. Image Insert: 83.44 KB Image Insert: 46.05 KB
John Dirks Jr
OK, heres a wild guess. Is it a switch that cuts power to an appliance that is housed in the attic? Maybe a water heater or an electric furnace?
Phillip
John, A double wide is a manufacture home. There is no attic access much less room to put an unit of any type up there.
John Dirks Jr
My brother has a double wide that has attic access but you are right about the limited space up there. Second wild guess.....hmmmm... Is it quick access to shut off power to the house in an emergency? The reason being the closet mounted panel with its door could be blocked by clothing or whatnot packed on the hanging rod?

Phillip
In most of this type of set up the switch is to a power vent in the attic area. In this case it is the water heater disconnect. All of your guess are good ones base on the limited info you had. The panel is in the laundry room.
