This article in today's Washington Post deals with the fact that Maryland's home inspection law, while on the book but never enforced, will soon go into effect. It also does a pretty fair job of explaining to consumers why a home inspection is a good thing.

I especially like the part about "No examination is required at this time". So anyone with $400 can get a license. Sheesh.

1. How does home inspection and real estate fall under the same board?

2. In reviewing licensing requirements, how will licensing "ensure [the consumer] get and expert"?
