Jim Baird Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 I have just signed a contract to be building inspector for a small town. I gave them a categorized price list of charges per visit, plus an hourly rate with minimum. Any of you guys doing this kind of thing? Comments etc welcome. Ciao

How will you react the first time that you cite a builder and the city backs him and tells you to ease up? - Jim Katen, Oregon
Jim Baird Posted June 12, 2007 Author Report Posted June 12, 2007 Thanks Jim, It's not really that unusual for inspection services to be contracted. The scenario you describe is a well known tune over in the public sector. I guess my reaction would be to let the city overrule me and keep going. They are the "authority having jurisdiction". I, on the other hand, am just a consultant whose opinion is based on an interpretation of the law. You know what they say about opinions...
