charlie Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 This is a first for me. Has anyone seen this flat wiring run under carpeting to provide power to a receptacle at the center of the room? Download Attachment: undercarpet.jpg 58.65 KB

It is allowed under carpet squares. It is wrong under wall-to-wall carpeting. It requires a metal shield between the carpet and cable. It shouldn't be exposed on the baseboard. See article 324. chicago Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I have seen it before in the past, but must wonder if it is safe. Now I wonder if it is UL approved,as it might be like the vinyl flex for dryers, meaning not a good idea.
chicago Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Going over the photo again I just noticed they went to all that trouble with hiding the 110v but left both the Radio Shack broadband cable and the phone line laying loose on top of the carpet.
mthomas1 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Intended for carpet squares, not sheet goods, w/w carpet, or area rugs. See page 2 here: http://www.ampnetconnect.com/documents/ ... anual_(U.S.)-RevE.pdf
