Chris Bernhardt
Is there a regulation covering the height of the service area in front of a furnace in an attic? I know that 30" in front of anything that you need access to for servicing is needed but saw a furnace installation that while it had the 30" in front of the furnace there was not much more then 30" of height in front of it which would make servicing difficult. There's no such rule that I know of. Suggested reporting language: The service area in front of the furnace is very short. When you call for service, ask them to send a dwarf technician. Hope they don't send Grumpy. - Jim Katen, Oregon
