Neal Lewis Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Wire size used for A/C condensor unit is 12/2, common yellow Romex. Rating on unit says minimum circuit ampacity is 20.2 amps. Breaker was 30 amp, which is within max breaker size on unit. Is 12 gauge enough?

Chad Fabry Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Just to keep our reports clean, it's "condenser" not condensor. Mr. Katen, it has taken 5 years but you have let me down. Yes, #12 is fine, it's ampacity is 25 amps.

Chad Fabry Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Nah, it was the grammar. I'm used to perfection from you.
Neal Lewis Posted April 22, 2007 Author Report Posted April 22, 2007 Thanks Chad, now I'll remember. It's one of those words where I have a mental block in regards to the correct spelling. The it's word is misused a-lot. Five years is a pretty good track record.
Les Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Jim, Chad started this so don't take it out on me. "Common yellow Romex"?? And, Yes 12 gauge is enough for low flying ducks and bunnies. Seriously - it was a good question.
