Scottpat Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I found this on the morning inspection. New home, the cleaning crew cranked the A/C down and we hit 40f last night. System had a low charge and bingo, you have ice. Download Attachment: IMG_3479.JPG 124.43 KB Download Attachment: IMG_3502.JPG 96.66 KB
Les Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Scott, You sure that is not mold? I would have recommended at least one mold test and an IAQ survey.
Scottpat Posted April 20, 2007 Author Report Posted April 20, 2007 Nah, this is mold and the same house! Crawl space vents were all closed and they insulated the CMU walls with cellulose. High content moisture in the insulation was just perfect to support the mold. I held my flashlight up against a joist and it looked like it was growing hair its entire length. And you know what? I told everyone it was mold, everyone believed me and the only person that said we needed to test it for mold was the builder! I still have a headache from the mold and that was this morning! bodeen0 Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 A/C running at those ambient temps will cause ice with the correct charge. A clogged evap. coil could cause ice as well as many other factors.
