Mark P Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 These were in almost all the rooms of the house, built in 1950. Best I could tell it is maybe some sort of speaker system. Download Attachment: 1.jpg 45.58 KB Download Attachment: 2.jpg 54.98 KB
StevenT Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I never saw one of those. Maybe you are right, some sort of early intercom system.
Inspectorjoe Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 They're heat detectors for a fire alarm system. On the one mounted on its edge, you can see that it's rated for 135 degrees f. Needless to say, they've long been obsolete.

I was hoping that they were Russian bugs left over from the cold war. - Jim Katen, Oregon
chicago Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Looks like something you would have built from one of those old radio shack kits.
