Bryan Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 On a site inspection today for a new home the garage floor and the home slab were the same height. I seem to reme, ber seeing somewhere thatthis is not allowed. However, I cant seem to locate where that was. I checked the 2006 IRC and could not locate. Bryan
randynavarro Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Not an issue as long as the garage floor is sloped adequately.
Darren Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 There used to be a 4 inch step-up requirement; I believe it was removed in the 2000 IRC. Darren www.aboutthehouseinspections.com

Darren As far as I can tell, the step-up requirement was never a part of the IRC or CABO before it. As I recall, it was a UBC thing. It might still be in the IBC . . . not sure. - Jim Katen, Oregon
Darren Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 1999 BOCA Section 407.5. The sills of all door openings between private garages and adjacent interior spaces shal be raised not less than 4 inches above the garage floor. Darren
