Mark P Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Thought it was funny that this toilet with no door or ceiling in a large unfinished basement has a exhaust fan installed with a flexible duct extending across the basement ceiling to the outside. Wonder if some whacked city inspector made them install it? Download Attachment: 1.jpg 48.98 KB
Steven Hockstein Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Not to be too gross but based on the plunger waiting to be used next to the throne, the owner may be prone to smelly, toilet clogging loads and was pressured into installing the exhaust fan by the other occupants of the house! Richard Moore Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Plunger? I expect the MLS blurb reads..."Charming yet airy, wood-paneled, 1/4 bathroom, complete with economical manual sewage ejector pump"!
Bain Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Around here, there are 80+ year old houses that have lone commodes with no privacy walls in basements. The commodes were installed because household help--typically African Americans--were not allowed to use the same plumbing as the owners of the house. A sad reminder of how things used to be, huh? The commode in the photo, of course, surrounded by 8" x 16" walls, wasn't installed for the same antiquated purpose.
fqp25 Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 Reminds me of some old fashioned dive bar bathroom. Back in my early days I might have woken up next to something like that. BTW that's a sink plunger...
