tbird Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 At an inspection the other day, I ran into this. I looked once, then twice and shook my head. Gas flexes were used for water connectors. Another classy do-it-yourselfer job. Download Attachment: watergas1res.JPG 41.45 KB Download Attachment: watergas2res.JPG 40.5 KB
Terence McCann Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 The TPR connection is interesting (and wrong).
ozofprev Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Hmmm, then the teflon tape might be ok.[:-dunce]
Chris Bernhardt Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Hmm, those do look like gas connectors and certainly you can't use any corregated flex connector on the TPR like that but there are SS connectors approved for potable water supply use although the ones that I have seen have a larger OD. tbird Posted December 22, 2006 Author Report Posted December 22, 2006 Yes, I have seen stainless steel flexible connectors for water heaters but these are not. The label still stuck on one of the flex lines says clearly it is for gas supply. Imagine all the fittings he had to buy to adapt to these. It would be much cheaper to do it right the first time.
fqp25 Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Are those Black Iron nipples sticking out of the WH?
