Trap in attic

Here is the trap and vent for an attic mounted HVAC unit that was tapped into a plumbing vent. The drain runs about eight feet from the evaporator drain.

How bad is this setup and what would be the complications.

Sewer gas in the house when the trap dries out.

And if it's connected to a ninety-percent furnace, the trap could freeze in the wintertime and allow flue-pipe condensation to backflow into the cabinet. Here, anyway. Probably not in Tejas.
