MelB Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I need some help on a furnace date code. It is an Amana, appears to be in newer condition, but could have been a well maintained older unit. The info is: Model #: GUI140B50B Serial #: 9011072092 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Terence McCann Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 According to Preston's it's a 1992 model as Paul stated. Sometimes manufactures list week/year as well. Could be 20th week of 92 however, 92 is the magic number
hausdok Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Uh uh, Amana was bought out by Goodman and the code is the same as the Goodman and Janitrol code. The first two letters of the serial number is the year and the second two is the week. In this case, that furnace was manufactured the 3rd week of March 1990 so it's 16 years old. Terence McCann Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 What year did Goodman buy out Amana Mike?
hausdok Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I thnk it was the late 80's. I talked to the Goodman folks today and the guy said that the previous serial numbers followed a different pattern. OT - OF!!! M.
