Jim Baird Posted August 9, 2023 Report Posted August 9, 2023 At night while you're sleepin' ole Kudzu comes-a-creepin'. Very wet summer found this house being invaded.
hausdok Posted August 10, 2023 Report Posted August 10, 2023 I spent a couple of years in the Army as a Squad Leader with the Regimental Aggressor Platoon for the MP School. Many, many hours out at the ranges battling NCO or Officer advanced classes and kudzu. I'm not sure what was worse. I used to drive around base, or the Alabama countryside and it was everywhere. It would cover utility poles, bridges, buildings - whatever was in its path. Hated that stuff!
Bill Kibbel Posted August 15, 2023 Report Posted August 15, 2023 I used to think it was only in the South. It appears occasionally in the mid-Atlantic. I wonder if it's worse than the bamboo problem?
hausdok Posted August 17, 2023 Report Posted August 17, 2023 It is an invasive species from Japan. It started in the south and it's spreading like crazy, west, north, and east. It will overgrow entire fields and conceal homes and barns. It's worse than bamboo.
Jim Baird Posted August 24, 2023 Author Report Posted August 24, 2023 On 8/19/2023 at 9:27 AM, Jerry Simon said: Can't be worse than buckthorn. Do you mean Eleagnus, or Autumn Olive? The same house had that and English ivy.
