randynavarro Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Has anyone ever toyed with the idea or have experience in "energy inspections"? You know, the HERS energy rating program and such?
homnspector Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Randy, I contacted one of the outfits but they didn't have any training in my area. It looks like pretty basic stuff, single pane windows, amount of insulation, efficiency of HVAC, etc, but pretty nifty number crunching software that spits out costs, payback time, etc. It looks like it might be an easy way to make a few extra $$, especially combined with a full inspection. Also, maybe pretty useful info for the buyer. They are always asking me things like "should I replace the single pane windows?"
Bill Kibbel Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 We all just finished this program: http://www.hometuneup.com/about.asp
Paul MacLean Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 I completed the HERS training a couple years ago, then decided it really didn't fit in with my inspection work. Around here the HERS inspections are done for builders seeking an Energy Star designation on new construction.
