dexy123 Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 I bought a new house made in 2005 and the bathroom faucet upstairs stinks. All the other faucets are fine. There is only one bathroom and the bathtub water does not stink. The water from the sink smells fine at first, but after it is ran for a few seconds it begins to smell like sewer gas. I thought it may have been a syphoning trap below. Any thoughts?
hausdok Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Stop the sink drain up, put a half gallon of bleach in the sink and then fill it up and let it run into the overflow to kill whatever is growing in there. Let it sit for an hour or so and flush it out. OT - OF!!! M.
swarga Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Mike is correct, something is probably trapped under the bowl in the overflow. If that does not fix it, let us know.
