Interesting. Is it a problem? If so, why?

I think folks that take baths might like to sit back and relax.  It's probably more comfortable ifn all the protruding bits are at one end.

I didn't consider that. Since becoming an adult, I've never sat in a bathtub.

Hard to see in the pict, but the sloped back of the tub, where your back would comfortably lie against, is under the tub spout.

I'm betting that's true for about 50% of the population.  I like to relax and read a book in the tub.  My wife thinks it's gross to use a bathtub (or a hot tub, spa, etc.).

Yes, with no way to easily reach the shower valve/faucet while sitting in the tub.

Dumb builder.  It happens.  You wrote it up?

Could there have been a shower stall installed in the bath previously?  I've heard a few stories about rehabers not relocating a drain properly when doing a remodel.

That's often the case with this type of installation but, Jerry stated this to be new construction.

During the remodel the headwall stayed the same but the drain got relocated probably due to structural issues from a long time leak etc.

The guy doing the job was not going to be living with it.

Jerry, please tell me what size is your bathroom? Is there also a sink and heated towel rail? I am currently planning a complete makeover in my bathroom and I just want to put such a bath.

And thanks for your remarks, now I know that it is better to do drain and tap on one side:)
