hausdok Posted August 28, 2011 Author Report Posted August 28, 2011 I'm working on a chart for Takagi and Bosch. It's a tankless job And we'll all be so tankful for it too! ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Jim Katen Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 . . . So there is some issues with the information on this page concerning this issue and it seems there are inspectors operating with this same bad information.. . . No, there are just some inspectors out there who can't tell the difference between water heaters that were manufactured 20 years apart. Not that I've ever made that mistake . . .
kurt Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 "Oh Lord, when someday I make a mistake, please let it be misguessing the age of a water heater". ..................home inspectors prayer
Mark Underwood Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Did AO Smith change their serial number coding recently? The one I looked at yesterday had the serial number: 1127J006180. If it was the J00 that would match the chart, but it was newer than 2000, so I'm thinking the 1127 meant it was the 27th week of 2011.
Mark Underwood Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Just called AO Smith. They changed their coding in 2008. It is now the first four numbers as the year and week, so I deduced correctly. You can update the chart. OK, I'm caught up now - I see you've already updated the chart, but it's year and WEEK, not month. Sorry, I'm moving a little slooow here....
moom bay Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Any idea on the date for a W.L.Jackson hot water heater? Serial number 537360.
hausdok Posted September 16, 2011 Author Report Posted September 16, 2011 Any idea on the date for a W.L.Jackson hot water heater? Serial number 537360. I've never seen one. Did you find a company address on the data plate? ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike

moom bay Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 It says W.L. Jackson Manufacturing Company, Inc. Chattanooga Tenn. When I Google I find that company comes up but now seems to be only in the business of plumbing service not resale of heaters. I also found some sort of class action I believe from 2006 on that manufactures hot water heaters.
victoryfan Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 yesterday i found a "super hot" boiler, serial # is MJAJ-8992, anyone who know the date of manufacture? the date code? thanks
