Marc Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 I'd set it up in an HI classroom, completely operational. I'm guessing that duct on top is the flue, so where is the heat siphoned off to warm the house?
John Ghent Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 Looks like a steam boiler converted to hot water. There are at least two circulators on the right side.
Jim Katen Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 Why do you think it was originally steam and not hot water?

Marc Posted October 1, 2018 Report Posted October 1, 2018 I thought gravity systems contained steam and condensate in a one pipe configuration.
Bill Kibbel Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Marc, You described a one-pipe steam system. A gravity hot water system is... well Dan can describe it in much more detail here: https://heatinghelp.com/systems-help-center/gravity-hot-water-heating-q-and-a/
