Jim Baird Posted February 24, 2018 Report Posted February 24, 2018 At the bottom of this tower the foot bolts have to be tight.
Marc Posted February 24, 2018 Report Posted February 24, 2018 Without your foot there, I would've of estimated the bolts as about an inch across.
Jim Katen Posted February 24, 2018 Report Posted February 24, 2018 I want to know how they made those welds. Looks like three passes with a gigantic electrode and a really steady hand.
Chad Fabry Posted February 24, 2018 Report Posted February 24, 2018 4 inch hex nut I couldn't find a price for a six-inch combination wrench ( they're out there but not priced). I couldn't find a forged 6-inch socket at all

By the way my foot does measure a foot in length with that boot on. After I told them I carried a socket set in my truck they agreed to pay me fifty cents a week to stop by on Wed mornings to snug 'em up.

And don't forget to paint those nuts where you scratched them, eh?

Bill Kibbel Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 And I thought this wasn't a place where guys would brag about bigger nuts.
John Kogel Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) Could we get a moderator over here? Oh, right, Bill's a moderator. To get the proportions right, we'll need a better shot of that phallus, I mean, tower. Edited February 26, 2018 by John Kogel

Jim Baird Posted February 26, 2018 Author Report Posted February 26, 2018 Here's the footing pre-pour, 28' square hole, top of ftg only 6' below grade, doesn't look too impressive to me for a 180' height. Three grids of #9 rebar in hole.
Jim Katen Posted February 27, 2018 Report Posted February 27, 2018 How thick is the footing and what's at the top of the column? Is this a cell tower?
