Push fittings on gas pipes

This is the first time I've seen these types of gas pipe fittings. They appear to be push fittings connected to standard black iron pipe. I found one company on the web but not much else.

Is this it?  It's Viega.  It's a compression fit and needs a special tool (page 5).

Yea Viega is the company I found online. Do they just cut the pipe flush for connections?

Rarely see that stuff used around here due to the price.
