Jim Katen Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 I don't see any harm in it, but I can't imagine how it would help with ice dams. Seems pointless.
Marc Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 I agree. I don't see how it would influence the mechanics of ice dams. Another myth maybe? A harmless one. Marc
Tom Raymond Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 It's so the guy cutting the valley isn't ben ding over downhill at the edge of the roof. Chickens.
Jim Katen Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 It's so the guy cutting the valley isn't ben ding over downhill at the edge of the roof. Chickens. Is he different than the guy weaving the shingles bending over downhill at the edge of the roof?
John Dirks Jr Posted March 15, 2017 Author Report Posted March 15, 2017 My plywood soffit has a bit of damage under the valleys. I cut away some of the bad stuff when I pulled the fascia. I can see behind the newly installed fascia. I watched the slushy mess melt off yesterday. I assure you not a drop went behind the fascia. No gutters on on yet. Through the entire day of melting, the fasci around the entire house remained dry.
