Brandon Whitmore Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 7 outlets were accessed and out of the 7 outlets only 2 were correctlygrounded. All others had an open ground. Also there were no GFI outlets installed. However there was 1 GFI breaker in the panel, but with no labeling it is unknown if this is for the bathrooms, the kitchen or what it is trying to protect. Also with this being a 2 wire system with 3 prong outlets installed this would most likely not work properly even if installed. Contact licensed electrician to evaluate the entire system and repair as needed. One of many inspection report issues... Jim-- maybe you can let this guy ride along with you for a while.....
Marc Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 It's the last sentence that irks me the most. Marc
Jim Katen Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 It's the last sentence that irks me the most. Marc That irks the heck out of me too. But the rest of it is pretty darn irksome too.
Jim Baird Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 ...a class in technical writing might help, but better writing does not clear up murky thought.
Jim Katen Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 ...a class in technical writing might help, but better writing does not clear up murky thought. I'm not so sure. I think that the two go hand-in-hand. Improving one often improves the other.
Marc Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 I think 5 years of membership at TIJ could improve an inspector's writing more than any existing course in anything. Our industry is mostly 'Undiscovered Country'. Marc
kurt Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 Writing is concentrated thinking. This guy was writing to see what he was thinking.
Brandon Whitmore Posted December 3, 2016 Author Report Posted December 3, 2016 The house sale fell, and the electrical "issues" were one of the reasons the buyer bailed (he's my brother's renter right now). My brother sent me the report to see what he needed to do...... I might contact the inspector and gently suggest some additional training.
