Jim Baird Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 ...just wonder if the Cubs bear any burden of team image ferocity deficit. The high school I attended was named for the great southern poet Sidney Lanier, and the athletes were all called the "poets". (Just what is mightier, anyway.)
kurt Posted October 23, 2016 Author Report Posted October 23, 2016 Burdens eternally abound. My only prediction is drama. It'll be dramatic. I live a block from the El, so I took the train down last night just to check it out. It was kinda cool. There was joy in Mudville.
Mike Lamb Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 My son, 25, was in Wrigleyville partying outside the park last night. He's a Cub hating Sox fan. I don't know where he got that. He said when the Cubs won the roar from everywhere was deafening. There is diamond pressure again on Cub Nation.
kurt Posted October 24, 2016 Author Report Posted October 24, 2016 The Cubs hating Sox fan, and vice versa, is a bizarre local custom. I glaze over when the vitriol between north and south sides cranks up. I don't even watch baseball, but I'm a fan of theater, and the Cubs are pure drama this year.
kurt Posted October 24, 2016 Author Report Posted October 24, 2016 I drink coffee with the author...... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opin ... story.html
