Mike Lamb Posted August 15, 2016 Report Posted August 15, 2016 This box was in the backyard of a property I looked at. There are wires feeding it directly from the utility pole and the supplies are hot. There are conductors coming out the bottom of this thing and going directly into the ground. Besides hot conductors being way too close to grade I'm not sure what say about this. I did some googling and it seems to be some kind of lightning protection? Any words of enlightenment are appreciated. https://trademarks.justia.com/736/49/rc ... 49229.html Click to Enlarge 56.01 KB Click to Enlarge 85.47 KB Click to Enlarge 131.82 KB
Marc Posted August 15, 2016 Report Posted August 15, 2016 Are any loads served by that weatherhead? House, outbuilding, water well, outdoor lighting, etc? Marc
Mike Lamb Posted August 16, 2016 Author Report Posted August 16, 2016 I don't think so. The wires running from the box into the ground had no power.
Steven Hockstein Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 Was there an unusually customized Delorean nearby?
Mike Lamb Posted August 16, 2016 Author Report Posted August 16, 2016 I feel like Rosanna Danna. It's lighting control, not lightning control. Still I never seen something like this.

Bill Kibbel Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 I've seen them on farms and commercial yards. It's a remotely operated relay switch for "street lights" up on poles.
