On October 6th 2005, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with A.O. Smith Water Products Co., of Ashland City, Tenn., announced a voluntary recall of about 5,000 75-Gallon Propane Gas Water Heaters. According to the manufacturer, the water heaters can accumulate soot on the burners, posing a fire hazard, but, as of the date of the original notice, no incidents or injuries had been reported.
