Vinyl tile

First time seeing this. This was after my client asked if the tiles had asbestos and I said no, they are not 9x9.

Just about all the old stuff is ACM.

The thing with 9x9 is the EPA said its "guaranteed" ACM.

mega tons of that stuff in commercial bldgs. 9x9" is the most common residential. Kurt is right.

I remember installing those things. Very difficult to cut. As I recall, we'd mark them and heat the cut line with a torch before scoring them. I can still smell them.

Yup.. I've seen the packages with the 12x12 also... I've only seen 9x9 and 12x12 so far.. but... I've only been doing this for a few years.. (21!)

The sheet vinyl flooring also is suspect.

The black glue probably always contains asbestos and it was still in use in the late 80's.

All correct, almost any vinyl flooring made up into the 80s could contain asbestos, the black mastic almost always contains a higher percentage than the tiles. Remember, a lot of vinyl baseboard was stuck on the walls with that black mastic also.
