Isaac Peck Posted July 29, 2016 Report Posted July 29, 2016 Hello Inspectors, We recently ran an important story by Gloria Linnertz, the founder of the Citizens for Radioactive Radon Reduction. You can check it out here: http://www.workingre.com/real-cost-of-radon/ Working RE Home Inspector publishes the most widely distributed magazine to inspectors nationwide. Our January 2017 issue will be distributed to 16,000 inspectors. We are always looking for good stories, so if you'd ever like to share your perspective with the industry, you can email me at isaac@orep.org. Thanks for reading!
Marc Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 I don't see any scientific support of a link, only scant statistical support of an association. Categorize it as a paranoia, IMHO Marc
Jim Baird Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 ...environmental hazard "specialists" are a particular species of predator. I think Darwin might have seen their precursors in the Galapagos.
kurt Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 The only folks I see really pushing the radon hazard are those doing testing, remediation, and governmental agencies involved in regulation. I've met about 2 physicians that think it's a front row concern, and all the rest are like..."ok, fine, if the government says it's a hazard, sure, why not? Now, can we talk about the stuff we know is horrible and we've got hard data to prove it?"
Jim Katen Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 The only folks I see really pushing the radon hazard are those doing testing, remediation, and governmental agencies involved in regulation. And the True Believers. This Gloria lady is one of them. One thing I've learned is not to get in between a True Believer and his/her cause.
kurt Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 Or, phrased more broadly, I never get between folks and their obsessions. It's #2 in my top 3 business rules.
Scottpat Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 Jim nailed it. Gloria is a true believer, I know her story and she is a nice lady working hard for her cause.
Les Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 She is passionate. Her message is not all wrong. I have and will continue to support her.
kurt Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 Couldn't she take her cause and go bother some other profession?
