Tom Breslawski Posted July 7, 2016 Report Posted July 7, 2016 Anybody know what this is? 1958 built house with vinyl siding. Thank you. Click to Enlarge 36.37 KB
plummen Posted July 7, 2016 Report Posted July 7, 2016 If you pull the plastic cap off the threads I think its some kind of expanding plastic plumbing plug.
John Kogel Posted July 7, 2016 Report Posted July 7, 2016 I'd call that a nipple. Sorry if that's offensive to some. [] The old guy was a farmer so he had grease nipples installed on everything he owned. []
Tom Breslawski Posted July 8, 2016 Author Report Posted July 8, 2016 This slightly younger guy was a farmer too..... a nipple it is! I'd call that a nipple. Sorry if that's offensive to some. [] The old guy was a farmer so he had grease nipples installed on everything he owned. []
MARK THIELL Posted July 8, 2016 Report Posted July 8, 2016 LOOKS LIKE SOME KIND OF HOME MADE DOOR STOP, YOU NEED TO SEE WHATS UNDER THE CAP
Tom Breslawski Posted July 9, 2016 Author Report Posted July 9, 2016 Is the white part porcelain? It was painted, but I'm pretty sure it was. The black part felt like rubber.
Bill Kibbel Posted July 10, 2016 Report Posted July 10, 2016 One of the mounts for an antenna or mount for the cable to the antenna. I think the rubber just covers threads.
John Kogel Posted July 10, 2016 Report Posted July 10, 2016 One of the mounts for an antenna or mount for the cable to the antenna. I think the rubber just covers threads. I thought so. Useless as tits on a boar. Pardon the farmer slang. []
Tom Breslawski Posted July 11, 2016 Author Report Posted July 11, 2016 One of the mounts for an antenna or mount for the cable to the antenna. I think the rubber just covers threads. Thanks, that makes sense!
Mariesavoy Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 It looks like a mold. Don't know what it is exactly though.
Rob Amaral Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 I'm with BK.. looks like a rubber cap for a threaded antenna connection (CB, ham, maybe one of those cell-booster things..???)
Les Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Bill K is right. that cap is newly purposed.
hausdok Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Was there an exterior basement stairwell below that thing? Could it be a painted metal flange where some kind of railing was made using thin galvanized pipe anchored to the wall at a pipe flange above the inside end of the stairwell wall?
