Steven Hockstein Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 While on vacation a few weeks ago I visited this building a few blocks from our hotel. Not only was it a far out design, it was also technically interesting. Thought some of you may also enjoy seeing this. Click to Enlarge 104.1 KB
Jim Baird Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 ....so Gaudi-esque... Looks lot way better than most these days.

mlparham Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 The protruding windows look like nothing but trouble. Were was the building located?
Steven Hockstein Posted June 24, 2016 Author Report Posted June 24, 2016 Nice, where is it? It is a university building in Sydney. Here is a link for anyone that is interested in how it was actually built. It is detailed better than most of the ordinary buildings that we see. Time will tell how it holds up.
kurt Posted June 24, 2016 Report Posted June 24, 2016 Good video. The shows more detail in how it's laid up. The whole clip and tie system is remarkable. Looks like a good cavity, they've got the MortarNet w/the insect screen, etc. I've not decided what I think about the building as architecture, but it's fascinating, that's for sure.

I like that Gehry pushes the rules and makes us all think differently about buildings. The inside was creative in some featured areas and functionally ordinary in most others.
Rob Amaral Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 cool stuff.. we have one here as well... apparently it turned out for a while to be a 'real leaker'... I'm not sure if they continue to have issues... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_and_M ... ata_Center
Chad Fabry Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 ...and every day, all one could hear was a murmur of WTF? from a hundred tradesmen. (an excerpt from the book, "How This Building Was Built")
