I looked at this building from a distance many times while hiking trails on the other side of the river. I didn't even know it was abandoned.

Now that is depressing to see.

I haven't been there for many many years. I remember it best from 1968 when it was the destination of 15 day canoe trip that started from the North Fork of the South Branch. Hot shower and good food was a treat to ourselves.

Sad to see what it is now. Aaaaaaaaaah memories.

For over 100 years, the Historic Hilltop House Hotel was a tourist favorite in Harpers Ferry. The site is currently under redevelopment.
