Leighton Jantz Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Is there any argument for putting your # on your website? I notice some HI's post their #, some don't. I ask because there is an HI in my assn. who is going to court over a subpar inspection he didn't do, they think someone is using his # from his website and getting paid to do inspections without being licensed. Unless someone complains, who knows how many he has done. Leighton
Chad Fabry Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 In NY, it's required to list your license # on all forms of advertising, your report and your invoices and correspondence.
Neal Lewis Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 It's also required in NJ along with an address, not just a PO Box #.
Nolan Kienitz Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Same in Texas ... we're required to have our license number visible all the time on all documents, advertising, etc..

It needs to be on your advertising. Some even require an address to be listed. A license number is public knowledge in the States, I don't know about Canada but I would assume it is the same.
Leighton Jantz Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 Thanks, I guess I'll check with small business Alberta to see if I have to post it. Leighton
inspector57 Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Can't speak for your area but here, it is the licensing law that mandates posting of license number. That would be the first place to check. Kind of like the SOP dictates the minimum scope of an inspection.
Leighton Jantz Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 Well, checked with business services Alberta, license # must be shown on clients report not required on website. Leighton
Nolan Kienitz Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Well, checked with business services Alberta, license # must be shown on clients report not required on website. Leighton I'm guessing that "business services" controls the issuing and related rules for your inspector's license?
Leighton Jantz Posted November 19, 2015 Author Report Posted November 19, 2015 Yes, division of the government where I had to apply for licensing after I was member of ass. Leighton
John Dirks Jr Posted November 19, 2015 Report Posted November 19, 2015 I post mine on my website. I even have the number 29827 linked to a photo of the actual license document. In Maryland the license numbers are listed on the state website anyway. So anyone can get anyones license number since it is public information. Fraud is fraud. Kind of hard to stop a perp from engaging in it.
Marc Posted November 19, 2015 Report Posted November 19, 2015 I post mine on my website. I even have the number 29827 linked to a photo of the actual license document.... That's cool. I'm going to do it. Marc
TimK Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 It's an Oregon law requirement that you have both your OCHI license #, and CCB license# listed in/on anything involving correspondence, advertising, etc.
