Is there any argument for putting your # on your website? I notice some HI's post their #, some don't. I ask because there is an HI in my assn. who is going to court over a subpar inspection he didn't do, they think someone is using his # from his website and getting paid to do inspections without being licensed. Unless someone complains, who knows how many he has done.

Leighton, as everyone so far has noted, it is required in the majority of the States if you are working under a license. It needs to be on your advertising. Some even require an address to be listed. A license number is public knowledge in the States, I don't know about Canada but I would assume it is the same.

Can't speak for your area but here, it is the licensing law that mandates posting of license number. That would be the first place to check. Kind of like the SOP dictates the minimum scope of an inspection.

Well, checked with business services Alberta, license # must be shown on clients report not required on website.

I'm guessing that "business services" controls the issuing and related rules for your inspector's license?

I post mine on my website. I even have the number 29827 linked to a photo of the actual license document. In Maryland the license numbers are listed on the state website anyway. So anyone can get anyones license number since it is public information.

Fraud is fraud. Kind of hard to stop a perp from engaging in it.

It's an Oregon law requirement that you have both your OCHI license #, and CCB license# listed in/on anything involving correspondence, advertising, etc.
