Denray Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 100 amp main feeds the only sub panel in the house. It has a 1 AWG aluminum feeder. Code check says it needs to be a 1/0 if aluminum. So, to a sub panel, this is true? Click to Enlarge 84.4 KB
Marc Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Code Check assumes that 60 degree cable might be used but your cable is type USE which is rated at 75 degrees. #1 USE is good for 100 amps and USE-1 (90 degree rating) is good for 115 amps on subs. 60 degree cable (Types TW or UF), size #1 would only be good for 85 amps. Marc you can only use the 90 degree rating if the conductor terminates in a 90 degree terminal. You would be hard pressed to find a circuit breaker with anything other than a 75 degree rated terminals
