Mike Lamb Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 What is the practical significance of the little light on GFI's? I was in a kitchen where a couple of these lights were not lit but the other ones were. They still tripped and re-set OK when tested with the buttons. Click to Enlarge 17.74 KB
tim5055 Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 I thought the light illuminated when it was tripped??
tim5055 Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 Some do, some are night lights. Neat, thanks! I only thought it because I had one go out in the RV at Disney last week and it lit up to show me which one was out. A reset turned the light out.
inspector57 Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 Some light when ready for use and some light when tripped. Depends on the manufacturer.
mjr6550 Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 Some light when ready for use and some light when tripped. Depends on the manufacturer. Agreed, which can be confusing. The GFCIs with nightlights have two larger LED lights (at least mine do).

Marc I think they are there with different operational modes just so that Mike Lamb would ask the question: Why? []
