John Dirks Jr Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 This patio stone is caulked to and covers almost three courses of hardie plank. Looks like trouble to me. I know hardie is tough but could this trap water against the wall and cause damage to the siding or structure? Click to Enlarge 61.4 KB Click to Enlarge 59.77 KB
mjr6550 Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 It is also above the top of the foundation walls, which can be a problem.
kurt Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 The recurring theme in Hardie specs is clearance. That stuff is buried. It's way wrong.
John Dirks Jr Posted October 3, 2015 Author Report Posted October 3, 2015 Yeah, just found the document with diagrams. http://www.jameshardie.com/d2w/installa ... -us-en.pdf
Jim Katen Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 It is also above the top of the foundation walls, which can be a problem. Right. The framing behind it is at serious risk.

Darren Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Depending on the height and length, don't forget the additional weight/pressure against the foundation. i had one that was about 4 foot high and the entire length of the house that was causing foundation problems.
