Lightning Over North Chicago

My 16 year old grandson is attending a National student leadership conference in engineering at Northwestern University in Chicago. He snapped this picture this afternoon from John Hancock Tower.

That was one helluva a storm. Intense hail, lightning, rain....about 3 minutes of extreme weather. The kids at Lollapalooza got hammered.

As I was flying into O'Hare. Yeah, luck. . .

Thousands of pictures I've taken trying to catch lightning. Of course, none of mine had the right timing but he did. Sadly, a while after we were back down from the tower, we found out that, a few minutes before this, the same storm hit a festival out by O'Hare Airport (the Prairie Fest in Wood Dale), a tent collapsed, one person died and several were injured. Mother Nature what have you done?
