Neal Lewis Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Is there a good resource or library of simple graphics out there somewhere? Or, do you just compile your own favorites from the interweb? Occasionally I need to add in a graphic to illustrate a point. Thanks
Chad Fabry Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Code check illustrated has about 400 graphics. It's a valuable resource.
Bill Kibbel Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 I use illustrations frequently. I've collected many and made some for the most frequent issues. Probably violating copyrights, but I think we could share here.
kurt Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 I have the Code Check stuff in the library, but hardly use it anymore. It's amazing what turns up when one googles a condition; I grab a lot of stuff out of the interweb. Probably/certainly violating copyrights on some of it. If someone is serious, they watermark it nowadays, so I use the un-watermarked stuff. I've been building my own library out of my own pics......another advantage of having a facile DB.
John Dirks Jr Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 If one purchases the Code Check illustrations legally, does that give said person the rights to use them in inspection reports without violating copyrights?

kurt Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Yeah, I think Douglas made a statement a long while back indicating they'd like us to use them in our reports. If I got that wrong, strike me down....
Trent Tarter Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 You might check out "Illustrated Home" from Carson Dunlop. It's $219, has over 1700 illustrations. I was thinking of buying it, I have the ability pull images like this directly from my software, or have them directly attached to auto comments.
John Dirks Jr Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 $139 is not a bad deal. I think I'll be getting them. http://www.codecheck.com/cc/illustrations.html
Rob Amaral Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 I have folders of photos I took of 'good examples of work' and 'things'.. So folks understand.. (Insulation baffles, soffit vents, submersible pumps, proper wiring, etc). They have the phrase 'EXAMPLE' printed on them by me.. Proper flashing (base/counter), etc..
mlparham Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 I just use links in my reports. That avoids any issues with copyrights.
John Dirks Jr Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 I just use links in my reports. That avoids any issues with copyrights. The issue with this method is the link may not always work, or even point to what you intend it to.

The issue with this method is the link may not always work, or even point to what you intend it to. That's true but I check each link before it goes into the report. Some of you may think that I am being lazy but my report already opens in my customer's browser so clicking the link provides instant information. Of course you should only link to reputable sites such as manufacturer sites etc.
