Neal Lewis Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 This label is on the front of something that appears to be from 1967, and still going strong. A water heater. Great label. They don't build 'em like they used to !! Click to Enlarge 38.81 KB
AHI in AR Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Stone??? Where the hell would anyone put stone in a water heater?
Neal Lewis Posted June 2, 2015 Author Report Posted June 2, 2015 I think another label on the tank said there was a stone lining.
kurt Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Never heard nor seen these. Googled, found these Maybe this one is similar. Stone lined. Sort of. Sounds good though.
John Kogel Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 The stone lining is actually a "cement-like slurry", but who wants a slurried tank? They built a tank that wouldn't fail and quietly went bankrupt ..... [] .
Rob Amaral Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 It's a concrete-lined tank ... .. many were up here in Boston area. "Stonesteel".. they did last quite a long time... and most are all gone.. they weigh too much!
Nolan Kienitz Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 Maybe I should give the local James Hardie manufacturing plant a hint to add W/H's to their queue !! ?? JH has a manufacturing plant in Cleburne, TX (SW of Fort Worth) and I've been there a couple times on tours. Great folks and an interesting process. The semi-liquid JH product could easily be poured into a cylinder.
