Robert Jones
This one is bugging me. Three year old home. The roofer cut roof vents at both sides of the ridge. There are soffit vents as well. Am I wrong in thinking, that the roof vents, will pretty much vent back and forth, in that limited area? My description may be tough to read/understand. The pics should explain better;) Simple gable roof. Click to Enlarge 54.31 KB Click to Enlarge 52.03 KB
Jim Baird
Rob, Any chance of doing a rough calc of ceiling area/300, which can be reduced if most is in upper third of height? I agree that it looks small, but I don't think these two will just whistle at each other. Enough heat builds up, they will both be forced into chimney duty. kurt
Absent any obvious or apparent issues, I wouldn't worry about it.
Robert Jones
No apparent issues Kurt. Was hot for a 60 degree day, but, that was it.
Mike Lamb
I wouldn't worry either. The stack effect of cooler air entering the soffit vents would out weigh the cross ventilation of the upper louver vents.
